The Shunamite rats

My rats live in a purpose designed rat room, which is an upstairs bedroom. It has painted washable walls and laminate flooring. In the corner is a sink which makes life much easier.

All of the rats are given free range time out of their cages. I use the rat room for a large exploratory space, and a large play table in my bedroom for more interactive play and one on one cuddle time. During free range time they have access to a selection of tubes, boxes, and toys, plus other more organised activities like water play, feather wands and a digging box.

I currently have 27 rats in 7 groups:

• Group one - 2 girls.
• Group two - 5 girls.
• Group three - 3 girls and a castrated buck.
• Group four - 2 bucks.
• Group five - 8 bucks.
• Group six - 3 girls.
• Group seven - 3 girls.
