Group three
There are three girls and one castrated buck in group three and they live in the top half of a duetto.

Who?
Rivendell Kayin - Kayin means "celebrated child" in Yoruba. She came here as a gift from Ann Storey. Kayin is quite a shy rat who doesn't embrace new situations with great enthusiasm, but she is well bonded with me and very settled within her cage group. She can be quite dominant, but she lives with other dominant rats and they all get along very well. She has always been an incredibly fit rat, very muscley and slender, though she's filling out a bit as she ages.
When?
DOB 10.12.2007
Where?
Kayin came to us from Ann Storey (from her chinchilla line) as a result of my deliberations with her as to whether to outcross the tabi line.
What?
She is a cinnamon.
Why?
Kayin came as a potential outcross for the tabi line rats but sadly she never fell pregnant. She's a very robust rat - young in her old age.

Who?
Rivendell Ritford - Ritford came to me to be castrated by my vet as he had been living on his own at Gwen's for quite a while. He was very fearful of everything, but especially other rats. The trouble is that by the time he was ready to go back to Gwen I was completely smitten and Gwen kindly agreed to let him stay here. After some slow introductions to his girls he seems to have decided that having a small hareem is actually quite fun. Especially when they are on heat!
As time has gone on, Ritford has blossomed into a lovely gentle fellow, who is a pleasure to have around. He is still easily spooked and doesn't respond well to other humans - but is now willing to engage with me and is higly explorative. He remains fit and well in his old age.
When?
DOB September 2007
Where?
Ritford came to us in September 2008 from Gwen Hemsley.
What?
He is an agouti.
Why?
Because I fell in love.

Who?
Shunamite Tabi tally ho! - Tally ho! is perfect. She is clever and oober people orientated, active, interested and gets along well with other rats. She is fit and well. She was my first rat to use the silent spinner... and her babies all did! here name is a real ale name and reflects her get up and go. I sometimes wish that Tally ho! was one of just a pair of rats here, so that I had acres of time to spend with just her... I have a feeling she is capable of all sorts of things. She took about a nano-second to train to come and stand on her back legs for a yoggie when I called "Tally ho!" in a silly high pitched voice. I would wager that if she has opposable thumbs she would rule the world.
Update November 2009: Tally ho! is now two and a half and is still fit and well, though losing some function in her back legs.
When?
DOB 23.05.2007
Where?
Tally ho! was born here to Shunamite Hoppy daze and Shunamite Casper (owned by Louise and Bruce Wilkie).
What?
She is a black.
Why?
Tally ho! was the only female rat I kept from that litter and I wish I had used her to continue my own line. However, she seemed like the perfect rat to bring special temperament and strong health genes into the struggling PEW related rats. So she had one litter to Paragon Poltergeist (PEW) and Fission and Fusion are her daughters. Tom's gold is her brother and I am now relying on him to add their special 'flavour' into the Tabi pot.

Who?
Amber was one of the 'tub rats' from the Throckley rescue who stayed her with her sister, Sherry, sadly now deceased. They were rescued from a situation where missexings had led to a number of unwanted litters and she was living with 12 other rats in a plastic storage tub. Amber was initially quite distrustful of humans and nipped frequently. She hated being picked up. Despite her problems with humanity she gets along with our rats very well and is a happy member of this group. As time has passed Amber has become more trusting and will now tolerate being picked up an held for a short time. She hasn't bitten me for some time, but I am still careful when other people come to visit. Amber barbers her front legs constantly which reflects her highly strung personality.
When?
DOB uncertain - approximately August 2008
Where?
Amber was rescued along with 32 other rats in February 2009.
What?
She is a silver fawn.
Why?
Amber and Sherry were the original mums of this rescue and both had problems (Sherry had a tumour on her face) so they remained here.
