Who?
Amber - our lovely, angsty rescue from the Throckley 'tub-rats' rescue. Amber was one of the original mums and spent her first 8 months of so in a small plastic storage box complete with plastic lid with a few vetilation holes. During that time she had one, possibly two litters - as did her sister, Sherry. All resulting offspring shared the box until they were sexed and separated, into two groups of 13. The result... one very damaged little lady who has taken many months to come to trust me as friend, not foe. She took to living in a bigger bage with lots of enrichment without a backwards glance, and she seems to have enjoyed getting to know other rats - but people are hard to trust. She still always bites me if I forget and put my hand in front of her face... but in other respects she's confident, forward going and generally lets me pick her up these days. She stayed with Sherry because of their difficulties (Sherry had a recurring facial tumour which eventually led to her early death). Amber is wild roses and sparklers.
When?
DOB: uncertain - approximately August 2010
Where?
Amber was rescued along with 32 other rats in February 2009.
What?
She is a silver fawn.
Why?
Amber and Sherry were the original mums of this rescue and both had problems (Sherry had a tumour on her face) so they remained here.

Who?
Jeremy - a rather plump, castrated boy who is almost certainly Amber's son, rescued from the storage crate as a youngster. He was homed as one of four young males, to a lovely human who turned out to be very allergic to rats. Jeremy is the last surviving rat and rather than living out his life alonehe was returned here. He was castrated when rescued so was swiftly introduced to his mum and the Zephyr girls and introductions were pretty straightforward - Jeremy is a very gentle soul, who I am still getting to know.
When?
DOB: uncertain - approximately November 2008.
Where?
Jeremy was rescued along with 32 other rats in February 2009, then returned here July 2010.
What?
He is a champagne.
Why?
Jeremy needed a retirement home. It felt right that he should stay here with his mum.

Who?
Zephyr So called chaos (AKA Chaos) - black girl out of Zephyr Valerie (American cinnamon) and Nezumi Hoochie Coochie Man (agouti dumbo). What can I say Chaos is awesome! She's pretty close to ratty perfection in my eyes, a true delight, everyone's friend, effusive, outgoing, cheery and takes new situations in her stride. Chaos is strawberries and cream, warm sun and waterfalls.
When?
DOB 05.11.09
Where?
Chaos was born at Zephyr rattery out of Zephyr Valerie (American cinnamon) and Nezumi Hoochie Coochie Man (agouti dumbo).
What?
She is a top eared black.
Why?
Chaos is out of an outcross litter that Mary did using our lines, so I hoped we might benefit from the outcross too. As I have grown to know and adore Chaos I am pretty sure that we will!

Who?
Zephyr Won't be mayhem (AKA Mayhem) - American cinnamon girl out of Zephyr Black Betty (black dumbo) and Zephyr Jimmy Mack (American cinnamon). Mayhem is very different from the girls I am used to, not terribly people orientated (though gets on well her ratty friends), and completely overshadowed by Chaos and special angsty Amber. I hope that by adding Jeremy to the group - another quiet rat, who's not an attention whore, I might be able to draw the two of them out a little and find their own unique specialness. Mayhem is chicken korma and a quiet stroll in the park.
When?
DOB 27.10.09
Where?
Mayhem was born at Zephyr rattery out of Zephyr Black Betty (black dumbo) and Zephyr Jimmy Mack (American cinnamon).
What?
She is a top eared American cinnamon.
Why?
Mayhem came here as company for Chaos and because I fell in love with her father when I met him as a youngster.
