Group five

This group comprises three girls and one castrated buck who live in the top half of a duetto.

   

Who?

Shunamite Hands untied (AKA Ani) - an agouti top eared doe out of Rivendell Boogie Woogie Floo (AKA Woo) and Nezumi Return ticket. Ani is a Amazonian rat, strong, fit and with a depth of character that I find compelling. Prior to having her litter she, and sister Elli, lived with mum (Woo) who was very much in charge. Ani always appeared to be the less dominant sister but since becoming a mum herself and now living only with Elli, she's deinintely the boss lady! She's a very loving rat, always up for some hands on human fuss and attention, but is also busy, explorative and, despite her large frame can be very agile. Ani is indulgence and crystalised ginger and monster trucks.

Ani was born here to Rivendell Boogie Woogie Floo (AKA Woo), an agouti and Nezumi Return ticket, a black dumbo.

What?

She is an agouti.

Why?

Ani and Elli were the only two girls in a litter of 10, so there was never any possibility of her not staying here. The mating was a long awaited outcross for the tabi line (continued at Nezumi) and I chose to use Ann's agouti line because I wanted an outcross who didn't carry unwanted recessives, from an established an predicatable line with good longevity. Woo belonged to Jenna and she had already had a litter at Hakuna Matata Stud. I am most appreciative of Jenna and Ann's generosity in allowing Woo to come here.

Ani has had one litter here (primarily for Alison Triggs) to Shunamite Takes the Biscuit (AKA Kit). The only kitten to stay here was Shunamite Smiling for no reason (Stevie).

Who?

Shunamite Reel it in (AKA Elli) - an agouti top eared doe out of Rivendell Boogie Woogie Floo (AKA Woo) and Nezumi Return ticket. Elli is the slightly more independant, less dominant sister, and is incredibly fit and agile. She raised her litter of 6 without blinking, and dripped well being throughout. Because of this and her sunny outgoing personality I am considering a second litter for her. Elli is a pleasure to know; very self assured and certain, she is drum solos, ariel slides and granite.

Update Oct 2010: Elli won't be mated again as I am having a break form breeding to deal with the abscess issues we have been having.

Why?

As the other of the only pair of girls amongst her siblings Elli was always staying here with a view to continuing and strengthing the tabi line. She has had one litter mated back to her father (Return ticket), and we have a trio of brothers from this mating: Shunamite Melt on through (AKA Connor), Shunamite Echoes of abandon (AKA Tom) and Shunamite Flavours of entanglement (AKA Chris). They are a delightful bundle of adolescent buckliness, not unlike the humans they are named after!

Who?

Zephyr Won't be mayhem (AKA Mayhem) - American cinnamon girl out of Zephyr Black Betty (black dumbo) and Zephyr Jimmy Mack (American cinnamon). Mayhem is very different from the girls I am used to, not terribly people orientated (though gets on well her ratty friends), and completely overshadowed by Chaos and special angsty Amber. I hope that by adding Jeremy to the group - another quiet rat, who's not an attention whore, I might be able to draw the two of them out a little and find their own unique specialness. Mayhem is chicken korma and a quiet stroll in the park.

Update October 2010: With Chaos at Lloyd's with her daughters, and Amber having left us, Mayhem is now happily settled with this new group. Indeed I think she;s happier than she's ever been and now feels like one of 4 equal rats, indeed she has very much come out of her shell since the change. I am really pleased that she seems to have found her home.

Where?

Mayhem was born at Zephyr rattery out of Zephyr Black Betty (black dumbo) and Zephyr Jimmy Mack (American cinnamon).

What?

She is a top eared American cinnamon.

Why?

Mayhem came here as company for Chaos and because I fell in love with her father when I met him as a youngster.

Who?

George - a castrated rescue buck who came here from Lilly Hoyland, and a rat who chose me to the extent that he got to come here even though I was 'closed' because of the abscesses. I first met George soon after he first arrived with Lilly - he had come in to her as a lone buck and had been biting and churlish. I lifted George out of his cage and the second we engaged I knew he was my kind of rat. Within a minute he was blissing out on my chest, boggling and bruxing and he stayed there until it was time for me to leave. I was closed to admissions and he was still new to Lilly so we left it at that, but a few weeks later when he had been castrated and settled for a while with his new girlfriend, he was still biting Lilly on occassion and she raised the issue of me taking him. I declined thinking I didn't have a suitable group, but then I visited her again and his response to me was pretty much "Eeeeeeeeeeeeek Mummmmmmmmmy! And away he went boggling and bruxing his little heart out. I knew it was his choice and he left with me. To complete the rightness of it he settled in immediately with the three girls without any problems at all. George is bluff, and celtic knots and Indian head massage.
